God as Creator

God created all things. And as his image bearers, he made humanity creative and appointed us stewards of his creation. As such, we are called to cultivate and preserve his handiwork. When we create, we imitate the creativity of God, and our labor becomes an active  expression of worship.

Co-Creating & Creativity

When we give our lives to Christ, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit acts as our power supply—guiding, empowering, encouraging, and instructing us. As we grow in our relationship with God, we become co-creators with him—using our creative gifts to revere and amplify God and point others to him.

Creating as Worship

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

~Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

If you pause long enough to reflect on creation, you can't help but be struck with wonder. From color and texture to structure and design, God intricately filled every square inch of the earth with beauty. And that's just what we can see! Think about all of the sensory experiences we enjoy because of God's creativity like the sound of ocean waves crashing against a shore, the smell of freshly cut grass, the warmth of the sun upon your face. God gave us the gift of our senses to add dimension to our lives. His imagination and skill are astonishing and breathtaking. And so it just makes sense that when you create something—a sculpture, a musical score, a garden, an improvisational dance, a homecooked mealyou become more intimately connected to God. How profound it is that every day acts of creating can deepen our relationship with God and become a gateway for worship.

But God didn't stop with our senses. He also wove emotion into creation. Think about how creation and creativity bring joy, comfort, and healing. Consider how your spirits rise when a puppy greets you at the door, how the sound of rain brings you comfort, how a poem touches your heart and reminds you that you're not alone because someone else has shared a similar life experience. These are all extensions of God's creativity. And so again it makes sense why creation and creativity bring joy, comfort, and healingbecause God is not only the divine Creator, but also our divine Provider, Healer, and Counselor.

When we create something in any form we are not only able to grow closer to God, but we can experience healing through the creative process as well. Yet what's most impactful is that when we extend that healing, beauty, comfort, and love to the outside world through our creations, we become Ambassadors of God's larger story of hope and redemption. What a beautiful gift and profound blessing.

But maybe you don't believe in God. Maybe you've been hurt by the church. Maybe you have questions and doubts that create barriers to belief. Maybe you feel abandoned by God or confused by all the suffering and darkness that surrounds you. I understand. I have been there. And that's why I created this community. I want you to experience the healing love of God regardless of where you are on your faith journey including those who love Christ, those who doubt, and those who don't believe.

We all need safe spaces to ask questions, to ponder, to voice our doubt, to share, and to express what is deep within us.  My prayer is you will find this to be a safe place to explore, discover, create, and connect.

Love and blessings,

Lauren
